US1 is experiencing hardware issues (Resolved)

US1 just reported a hardware fault and our datacenter technicians are looking into the problem. We will update this issue with more information soon.

US1 was rebooted and is back online. We are performing a full check on it.

Network outage on Aug 14, 2019 (Resolved)

Affecting Server - US1 | Priority - High

US1 experienced a network outage for several hours due to an issue with the routing table of one of our network devices before it. The issue was caused by a subtle change to the way the TCP packets were handled at that network interface, causing huge packet loss, which translated to lost connectivity to the server.

We worked with our datacenter network engineers to locate and resolve the problem and connectivity was restored on Aug 15, 2019, at 08:55 UTC. We have also taken extra precautions to prevent such issues in the future and we are working on improving the detection and early warning systems for such types of problems.

Routing issues at our datacenter (Resolved)

A routing error has been discovered at our datacenter, which affects the network connectivity of our US servers. We are working with our datacenter engineers to correct the problem and restore the connectivity to the affected servers.

This notification will be updated as soon as there is progress on the subject.

The issue was resolved - a faulty routing table in one of the datacenter's core routers was the culprit. The datacenter engineers corrected that table and connectivity has been restored.

DDOS against US1 (Resolved)

Affecting Server - US1 | Priority - Critical

US1 experienced a DDOS attack - it was medium in size but it still flooded the server's network connections and made it appear offline. We managed to mitigate the attack with the help of our datacenter engineers. The offending IPs have all been filtered and normal operations have resumed.

US1 performance enhancement (Resolved)

Affecting Server - US1 | Priority - Medium

The machine, on which US1 runs, has been boosted in terms of CPU performance. That mandated a quick reboot of US1, so that the changes take effect.

The downtime lasted a little less about 8 (eight) minutes.

The server is back up and is running as expected.

Urgent maintenance on US1 (Resolved)

An issue on US1 caused the web server to go down unexpectedly.

We are working on restoring the service.

The issue was caused by a bug in the web stack software from one of our vendors. We corrected the problem manually and submitted a bug report upstream.

The service now works fine.

CPanel upgrade on all servers (Resolved)

The CPanel software on our servers will be upgraded to the latest version on Nov 7, 2016, 09:30 UTC.

The upgrade will ensure the continued security and stability of our servers while providing new functionalities to our customers.

We do not expect any problems during the upgrades.

Urgent kernel upgrades on all our servers (Resolved)

Affecting System - All servers | Priority - Critical

A new kernel exploit has been found - https://dirtycow.ninja/ - which mandated an urgent upgrade of the kernels on all our servers. The upgrade process was error free and completed in several minutes.

Our systems are no longer vulnerable to this exploit.

RAM chip replacement on US1 (Resolved)

Affecting Server - US1 | Priority - Critical

The machine, which hosts US1.SOLID-HOSTING.NET, had to be brought down for an urgent replacement of one of its RAM chips. The replacement, however, took longer than usual - we are now checking the process with the datacenter engineers to help speed it up in the future.

The server is back online and is up and operational.
