Turning register_globals on

An important setting in our server setup is that register_globals is off, for security reasons. This, however, breaks some older software or custom scripts, that rely on register_globals to be on to work properly. A simple solution exists, namely overwriting the default server setup with a custom php.ini file, placed in the folder where these PHP scripts reside.

Here is a sample php.ini file that will suit most people:

--- PHP.INI STARTS ---

register_globals = on
post_max_size = 20M
memory_limit = 200M
upload_max_filesize = 20M
max_execution_time = 120
expose_php = off
session.save_path = /tmp

--- PHP.INI ENDS ---
