How to enforce secure access (HTTPS)

If you need to have visitors access your site in a secure way, you can enforce them to use HTTPS (secure HTTP). This is done by using an .htaccess file in the folder which you want to be securely accessed - if you need your entire site to be accessed via HTTPS then place the .htaccess file in your public_html folder. You need to place these lines in the .htaccess file:

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
RewriteRule ^.*$ https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [R,L]
